Raynette has been supporting children, teenagers, and parents in her role as a professional counselor, utilizing play therapy and expressive therapy approaches. Her primary clinical experience involves working with younger populations facing emotional issues (such as depression, anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder, anger, selective mutism, etc.), trauma (including divorce and separation, adoption, attachment injuries, adverse childhood experiences (ACE), abuse, medical issues, grief and loss, school refusal, and bullying), and neurodevelopmental challenges that impact learning and daily life (such as autism, ADHD, and other learning difficulties).
As a systemically trained therapist, Raynette regularly involves family members in therapy through sibling and parent-child play therapy. She has also facilitated group play therapy interventions and specific skills training programs for both neurotypical and neurodivergent children and teenagers. Transitioning from a school counselor role in an international school to a full-time career in private practice, she is skilled in working multidisciplinary with teachers, safeguarding leads, learning support staff, shadow aides, and interventionists (e.g. speech therapists, occupational therapists), when necessary.
Raynette’s work using expressive therapy approaches has extended to the adult population. She has experience working in a funeral service center, a transitional residential facility for post-prison programs, and with refugee communities in shelters. Having worked with individuals of varying ages and guided by neuroscience, attachment, and Satir’s theories, Raynette often traces and maps unmet childhood needs behind the manifestation of various clinical issues. Her goal is to see individuals beyond their problems and empower them to address their needs at the earliest opportunities.
Raynette is currently a certified counselling supervisor affiliated with Lembaga Kaunselor Malaysia. She is also trained to provide play therapy-specific supervision and is in the process of obtaining her license as a Registered Play Therapy Supervisor (RPT-S) with the Association for Play Therapy (APT), USA.
Raynette speaks Mandarin, English, and Bahasa Melayu.
