Hanurekha had always been passionate about the field of health and healing. Since she was young, she was intrigued by the science of mind and emotions and how they influenced actions. It paved the way to a major career change that brought her into the world of mental health.

Hanurekha is a Licensed Professional Counsellor under the Board of Counsellors of Malaysia. She holds a Master of Counselling from HELP University and has advanced certification in both Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Choice Theory Reality Therapy (CTRT). Recently completing her Postgraduate Diploma on Multigenerational Family Therapy, her systemic-based approach views client concerns as not standalone but contributing to and influenced by a broader interrelated dynamics between family, society, and culture. Using an integrative approach to these modalities, she actively works with individuals, couples, and families who are in conflict towards regaining their balance, functionality, and relationship.

Complemented with in-depth education, experience, and understanding of the corporate working culture from 8 years in various technical and management roles in engineering, she possesses a unique combination of knowledge and qualification to comprehend the challenges faced in the workspace. Through an Employee Assistance Program partnership with MNC companies, Hanurekha supports the workforce community in various transitional phases, both professionally and personally.

Hanurekha is also heading the counselling department of an education group comprising of multiple schools in different geographical locations. Also double hatting the role of school counsellor in one of the schools, she keeps in touch and works closely with children and adolescents, focusing not only on academic challenges but also developmental concerns common to the younger population.

Hanurekha believes that we are all relational beings that are unique with unique experiences. “There are no individuals in the world, only fragments of families.” – Carl Whitaker, signifies the need to understand a person from their family of origin and their relational interaction today to be able to truly support them. When we know our history, can we see our present clearly.
