Tiara is dedicated in supporting minority populations such as B40 groups, LGBTQ individuals, students, and the elderly. She has a wide range of experience in providing support to clients dealing with issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, relationships, self-esteem, crisis intervention, career, and matters related to gender and sexuality. Besides that, she has experience in organisational settings, offering Employee Assistance support to corporate staff.
Additionally, she has a deep passion for the LGBTQ community, which led her to host multiple support groups for the LGBTQ community. She also wrote an in-depth post-modernist thesis titled “The Lived Experience of Individuals Reporting Same-Sex Attraction in Malaysia,” delving into the impact of cultural, political, and religious discourse on gays and lesbians in Malaysia.
Currently, Tiara is part of Think City’s K2K (Kita-untuk-Kita) initiative, a government effort to enhance the liveability of public housing in Malaysia. Her counselling approach is built on unconditional positive regard, empathy, and congruency, facilitating personal growth. She is adept at assisting clients in recognising their strengths and finding meaning in their lived experiences.
